Vancouver B&B – Your Home Away From Home
May 1, 2010
When you’re staying in or around Vancouver for business or pleasure, a Vancouver B&B can be your home away from home.
Nobody knows this better than Mary Robson, the owner of Dancing Firs, a destination bed and breakfast in White Rock, B.C., only ten minutes from the U.S. border and 30-45 minutes from downtown Vancouver and its major attractions.
Dancing Firs is a great place to relax, recharge, refresh and rejuvenate and boasts three luxurious private suites, each with deluxe bathrooms and their own hot tub with 180 degree ocean views.
The Courtyard Suite is a one bedroom suite with private entry, bathroom, and lounge with gas fireplace.
The Ocean Firs Suite contains a bedroom with king sized bed, lounge, water and air filtration system, bathroom and two meditation decks.
The Bayview Suite is more like an elegant house, featuring two bedrooms each with its own bathroom, Jacuzzi, water and air filtrations systems and plenty of magazines, books and videos.
Each suite has its own kitchen or kitchenette, stocked with a guest pantry containing handy spices, olive oil, jams and condiments such as mustard and ketchup.
Other value-added amenities include fresh flowers, guest library, high speed internet access, and a full gourmet breakfast every morning. A sample menu may include German baked apple pancake, homemade baked goods and fresh mint and lime strawberries.
Every suite has its own cappuccino maker so you can indulge in an organic cappuccino. You can also choose from a wonderful selection of teas, Happy Planet juices and water.
If you feel like being pampered, you could book an in-suite massage, Reiki treatment, colour therapy or bodywork treatment. Afterwards, why not indulge yourself in your own private hot tub?
If you’re not sure what to do for dinner one night, why not buy some local lobster and cook it on one of the outdoor barbecues? Or you could eat at one of the many restaurants in the area. Your hostess is just the person who can help you make the right selection from Japanese, Italian, Mexican, Mediterranean and American, just to name a few.
If you feel like heading outdoors, don’t forget to take in the wonderful mural in the courtyard, painted by local artist Elizabeth Hollick. You can also stroll down the garden path to the Pacific Ocean where eagles and shorebirds abound. If you take the forest path, you may even meet one of the resident raccoons!
